Rationale behind classification according to SFDR Article 9 The fund is classified as article 9 as per SFDR with minimum commitment to 85% sustainable investments. A fundamental bottom-up research process identifies companies that derive significant future cashflows from their contribution to social solutions. The fund invests in companies that are part of a proprietary investment universe of social solution providers. Companies in the investment universe are materially involved in economic activities that are considered socially sustainable. Companies are assessed based on their contribution to relevant social UN SDGs. The themes targeted by the Nordea 1 – Global Social Empowerment Fund are Vital Needs, Inclusion and Empowerment. Since we make these investments with an objective of social positive change, we also need to monitor the real-economy change delivered by our holdings. Here, we combine qualitative and quantitative information to assess the contribution each holding makes to the SDG for which it was selected. The metrics we use for the environmental and social outcomes are chosen on a holding-by-holding basis, reflecting the nature of the solution each company is offering.
